In 2017 Freedom Furniture launched online with eStar with the ambition to extend Freedom’s reach beyond its 11 physical stores in New Zealand and enhance customer service by introducing additional ordering and delivery options. Freedom wanted their excellent in store experience to be replicated online, especially for those that weren’t located near a physical store.

The solution was optimised for furniture and homeware products, making it easy to shop the latest curated styles using cross and upsell modules. Customer reviews were highlighted to facilitate decision making and complementary products were recommended based on learned customer behaviours.

In the development of Freedom’s eCommerce platform, eStar addressed the fulfilment challenge of delivering large, heavy items, for which it can be difficult to accurately estimate freight charges and delivery times. By developing industry specific freight metrics in partnership with Freedom, eStar’s solution provides greater certainty for customers at the checkout that their preferred item is in stock and will be delivered within the stated time frame.

The new site was delivered on time, despite a very tight timetable. This was made possible by excellent collaboration by both parties.

The site exceeded all expectations. It delivered on Freedom’s omni-channel objectives and a sales forecast for two years being met and exceeded within 6 months.
